Modalities of Therapy

Considering therapy is a big decision. If you make this deicision for yourself, or in an effort to salvage your relationship with your estranged child, it is important to understand which

therapeutic modality will best fit your needs and provide you with the therapist that is

trained in that modality to address your personal situaion. For example, you wouldn't go
to a brain surgeon for a broken elbow. Making the right choice can make all the difference.

Here is a comprehensive and detailed list of therapy modalities used by mental health professionals. This includes traditional, evidence-based, integrative, somatic, expressive, and emerging approaches, with descriptions of each modality, its uses, and sometimes its origins or theoretical framework.

Disclaimer: I am not a therapist. Please do your own research to decide which
modality is best for you and your situation. Ask potential therapists for their credentials.

You always have the right to interview therapists to make sure you are selecting

one that makes you feel comfortable and that will use the correct strategies

to improve your mental and/or emotional well-being.
